VetJobs helps Veterans find gainful employment

Hundreds of thousands of United States veterans are unemployed. Why is it so difficult for a vet to find stable work after leaving the military? While negative stereotypes play a role, some hiring experts say it’s a simple as failed skill translation.

Reservists can have an especially difficult time finding employment due to the fact that they can be deployed at any given time.

While many veterans have 5-plus years of experience in the field, a large percentage lacks college degrees. Many have supervised other troops in high-stress situations, operated heavy equipment, worked as medics or done computer programming.

But unless the job you’re applying for is with a defense contractor, it may be difficult to translate the various skills learned in the military into a civilian career. VetJobs, the largest online job board for veterans, is helping to change that.

The services provided by VetJobs make it easier for transitioning military, National Guard, Reservists, veterans and their families to find gainful employment. Through a network of employers eager to hire veterans, VetJobs.com offers jobs in all disciplines for veterans who are now productive members of the civilian workforce.

Veterans can find a wealth of information and resources on the VetJobs website, published to aid in the re-direction of their career path following military duty. Concurrent with posting new jobs in its database, VetJobs frequently adds and updates articles to facilitate veterans’ transition from military service to the civilian work force.

Whether transitioning out of active military service or as a civilian seeking a new job, there are certain things one must do to be successful in the job search. The articles presented on VetJobs act as a guide to assist you in finding the job that best meets your needs. Finding a job can be a full time job in itself.
